WHO IS CHRIS OLIVER

me in a nutshell

Chris Oliver is a full time Correctional Officer and K9 handler with nineteen years of law enforcement experience. He has been a K9 handler for seven years. Chris is working with his second partner, a four year old Black Lab rescue, who is certified in narcotic detection.


Chris has studied K9 scent detection under Gregg Tawney as well as other instructors and has a huge passion for scent training. He loves learning and sharing the amazing intelligence dogs have and is a firm believer of positive reinforcement training.

Chris and his K9 partner compete in the Western States Police Canine Association (WSPCA) narcotic trials to keep their skills sharp. In his off time Chris judges for the National Association of Canine Scent Work (NACSW), American Kennel Club (AKC) and provides educational training seminars.


Chris trains civilian sport dogs in odor detection (nose work) and Police K9's in Narcotic/EOD detection. Chris is also a certifying official with the California Narcotics Canine Association (CNCA) and the Police Officer Standards and Training (POST).
